Going for an Interview

Going for an Interview

General advice

  • Make sure you know exactly when, where and with whom the interview is with.
  • Make sure you have researched the company you are having the interview with.
  • Ensure you have a travel plan laid out for the day.
  • Give yourself plenty of time to get to the interview.
  • Make sure you are appropriately dressed, if you are not sure what to wear it is always best to be as smart as possible.
  • Make sure you fully understand the requirements of the role.
  • Should you have any questions write them down in a small note pad and take them with you.
  • The better prepared you are the less nervous you will be.
  • Keep in mind that an interview is the opportunity for you to shine, show what you can do, find out about the role and company and not for them to tear you down.
  • Remember you are as much there to see if you want the job / placement, but do not come across as such.
  • Be confident, friendly (but not arrogant) and stay positive throughout, they are only human too after all and it is totally expected that you may be a little nervous.
  • Make sure they fully explain what will happen once the interview has finished.
  • Ask when a decision will be made.
  • If you feel confident enough and really want the job / placement, tell them you would like to work for them, you have nothing to lose.
